The challenge

Significant limitations in data completeness, readiness of alternative tools, and consistency in risk analysis

ofi had already developed its own internal system to assess EUDR compliance. However, as the industry continues to interpret evolving EUDR requirements and methodologies and in the absence of concrete instructions from EU legislators, they recognised the need to learn from peers and benchmark their processes.
‍
To ensure the robustness and reliability of farm-level data quality and risk assessments across multiple origins, they looked for an external solution that was mature, auditable, and immediately operational.
‍
They needed a neutral benchmarking tool to help standardise and verify risk assessments and strengthen confidence in EUDR-compliant sourcing decisions.

Internal data and system limits

Reliability of farm-level data was the biggest challenge, as ofi’s own traceability and risk analysis system was still under development.

External verification credibility gap

Customers and partners often flagged discrepancies in risk classification; ofi required an independent, auditable system.

“Verify acts as a trusted, neutral judge for us. It provides clear, evidence-based guidance to help confirm whether something is truly a risk. It plays an important role as a credible counterbalance in our decision‑making and adds real value to our verification process.”

The solution: Meridia Verify®

Operational simplicity, flexible risk insight, trusted collaboration, and secure data assurance—all in one solution

ofi regarded Verify as one of the most robust solution because it offers a unique combination of technical readiness, methodological thoroughness, and practical usability that directly addresses their compliance and operational challenges.

Operational strength and usability

Verify was already usable out of the box, with comprehensive risk monitoring and analysis capabilities—particularly across origins where ofi’s systems had no detailed coverage due to lack of on-ground origin operations. Verify’s intuitive workflows, simple interfaces, and easy integration with diverse data sources produce clear, straightforward results and require no GIS expertise.

Comprehensive and flexible risk intelligence

Verify’s breadth of risk testing allows ofi to perform holistic risk assessments, based on internal thresholds and business context. When ofi’s tool and a customer’s evaluation differ, Verify serves as an independent, auditable reference, helping confirm or challenge assumptions objectively.

Transparent, trusted partnership

Verify’s methodological transparency impressed ofi. They highlight that regular update briefings, versioned documentation, and clear change logs demonstrate a mature and diligent company culture.

Compliance and storage advantages

The five-year audit-ready data vault, compliant with EUDR retention requirements, is a major differentiator for ofi. They highlight this as a key feature that sets Verify apart from competitors, ensuring data remains secure and verifiable for regulatory audits.

“Data quality has always been a challenge for us, and that’s exactly where Verify impressed us. The depth and completeness of its analysis—running dozens of checks—made it clear how far ahead the platform was in terms of technical capability.”

results

Improved internal workflows, credible benchmarking, and evidence-based compliance decisions

For ofi, Verify delivers trusted, auditable risk assessments, operational stability in data-poor origins, and stronger external credibility in compliance verification — all contributing to faster, clearer decisions across deforestation risk and EUDR readiness initiatives.

Smarter, faster decision‑making

ofi also used Verify to run special geospatial analyses before new sourcing or expansion projects. Verify delivers quick, data-driven clarity, enabling teams to move forward or abandon plans based on robust evidence rather than assumptions.

Trusted and evidence‑based compliance

Verify provides an independent verification layer whenever discrepancies appear between ofi’s system and client analyses. Because Verify is EY-audited and methodologically transparent, its outputs are accepted by clients as defensible evidence of due diligence. This minimised disagreement cycles and helped align EUDR submissions across systems.

Expanded and stable coverage

Broad adoption across pilot origins and multiple commodities strengthens ofi’s dataset quality and geographical risk mapping under EUDR. By leveraging Verify, ofi can maintain continuous coverage while its internal system matures. The platform’s usability and quick onboarding allowed ofi to integrate it without workflow disruption.
